Enhance Your Body With Calf Augmentation

There are many men and women who are unhappy with the size and/or shape of their calves. Calf implants, or calf augmentation, is a plastic surgery procedure that increases the size and enhances the shape of the calves using soft, solid silicone implants. Aesthetic enhancement and reconstructive necessity are verified common reasons that a person may want calf implants. Body builders, regardless of sex, enhance the fullness, bulk, and shape of the calf muscles with calf implants when further development is not happening through exercise. The procedure of calf augmentation is performed by a plastic surgeon placing soft, solid silicone implants in "pockets" that are created between the gastrocnemius muscles and their tough outer connective tissue fascia. The gastrocnemius calf muscle is made up of two heads on the back of the lower leg. One head is on the outside of the leg and the other one is on the inside. More often than not, the cosmetic surgeon only needs to insert one implant on the medial side of the leg to create proportion and enhance the calves. However, for body builders, or people with a more pronounced deficiency, calf augmentation may be used to enhance both the inner and outer muscles of the calf. No muscles are cut or detached meaning that, after healing, there will be no impairment of any of your muscles.

A calf implant can also be places under the gastrocnemius muscles. The downsides to this procedure include a higher incidence of complications and it has substantially more difficult and more painful recovery. This method has been made unnecessary by the new generation of extra-soft contoured silicone implants. The also provide natural results as well as an much easier and less painful recovery. You can also opt to have fat augmentation to contour and shape the calves, thought this is performed modestly.

A naturally placed incision, in a natural crease behind the knee, is used for calf augmentation with implants. Over time, it usually heals in an inconspicuous manner. Calf implants vary from implant to implant. They come in many different sizes and shapes and can accommodate most requirements made during a consultation with your plastic surgeon. There are also custom-made moulage implants which can be crafted for more specific requirements which include cases involving trauma or birth defects.
